The Pact

I'm making a pact. I will go running almost every day after school to prepare for Cross-Country in high school. I think I was born with a coordination disability so I wasn't ever good at sports. Plus, I think it will look good on a college application.

On the weekends I'll get up on Saturday and Sunday will be my day off. I'll get home and change into my running shoes and shorts and go running. Then I'll shower and do my homework.

I know it will make me feel good to run and I'm really excited to get started. I'm also nervous about actually keeping the commitment up... I love support comments!

  1. hi frannie- i love your goal. you weren't born with a coordination disability. i can be running next to you if you want...you don't even have to talk while we run. otherwise, i'll be waiting at the door with a cool, refreshing bottle of water!

    love you, mom

  2. Hey Frannie, Nice Blog! I echo waht Mom said, and also encourage you to rethink your stated reasons for wanting to run. I would love to run with you too, and promise not to jabber too much unless you want to talk! I want to train to run the Gasparilla 1/2 marathon in February-want to do it together? I love you girly, -Daddy

  3. Frannie - you rock! You inspire me to get back to running. I will do my best to get out there as much as you are. If you go to runnersworld.com, you can make a training log that creates graphs, etc. to show you how much you've run in a week/month/year. It is pretty cool. Let's try to do a race together sometime soon. You're amazing! xoxo, kt

  7. Frannie,
When I took PE in middle school and high school I was just awful at things like volleyball - I was afraid of the ball and would duck when it came towards me. So I always thought I was just plain uncoordinated. That was my own private "self-talk". But as an adult when I started running and exercising on machines, I realized I was a very strong woman. My self talk changed. I hope this happens for you as you "run, baby, run". I love you. Aunt Mandy

  8. Thanks, Aunt Mandy! Don't worry, I hide from the volleyball too. I actually was in volleyball for about three days. Right after that I got sick with the foot thing. You should try running off of exercise machines. I enjoy being outside in the morning. Plus mom thinks that you burn more calories when you can actually turn around and say, "Hey I put that behind me." It also is a great feeling.

    Love You Too, Frannie
